MY FIVE TOP TIPS TO GETTING READY ON YOUR WEDDING MORNING
Is your big day fast approaching?
Read on for my top tips to help you stay calm and have fun, relaxing wedding morning!
As professional hair and makeup artist I wanted to share some of my most asked about advice for getting ready on your big day.
Tip 1: The night before your wedding, try to get a good night's sleep.
This one may seem obvious, but it's worth repeating. Take some time for yourself to relax and unwind. Treat yourself to your favourite soothing face mask to get that gorgeous bridal glow. The evening before try to create a relaxing bedtime routine and have an early night. This will help you to feel more alert and energized on your big day.
Tip 2: Have a substantial breakfast or as much as you can face.
Wedding days are long!! Try to eat throughout the morning. This will give you the energy you need to power through the day. If you're not a breakfast person, try to eat something small, like a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts. It's important to have something to give you energy and help you focus. It's also important to stay hydrated. Have plenty of water, herbal tea or squash to hand throughout the morning. It will keep you feeling refreshed and energised.
Tip 3: Have a simple easy to follow skincare routine.
For the best looking bridal skin having a regular skincare routine is essential for looking your best on your wedding day. It helps keep your skin hydrated and glowing. Don't forget to have a read through your bridal welcome pack which is jam packed full of advice on skincare products and the best routine to follow. You can also take a look at my blog post here
- Cleanse your face effectively. Using the double cleanse method. Caroline Hirons explains it brilliantly in her cheat sheet here
- Exfoliate your skin regularly. Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells and reveal the fresh, new skin underneath.
- Moisturize your skin. Moisturizing helps to keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from becoming dry, irritated, or flaky. Moisturize your skin after cleansing and before applying makeup.
- Use sunscreen every day. Sunscreen is essential for protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Apply sunscreen to your face and neck every day, even on cloudy day.

Tip 4: If you get a breakout, leave it alone.
Do not pick at it! The area will cover much better and more smoothly if the skin has been left alone. I will use some of my tried and trusted techniques to blend it away.
Tip 5. If the photographer is coming to take getting ready shots.
Have your outfit and accessories such as your perfume and jewellery easily to hand ready when they arrive to capture some gorgeous images for your album.
I have listed a few other final thoughts below that you many want to think about doing to help you on the morning.
Delegate tasks. Don't try to do everything yourself. Delegate tasks to your bride tribe or friends so you can soak up every minute and focus on your big day.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you need help, just ask. Everyone is there for you on your day they will be happy to help you out.
If you start to feel stressed, take a few calming, deep breaths to help settle any pre wedding nerves and if you need a minute don't worry about asking people to leave you alone so you have the space and quiet time to collect your thoughts.
Don’t forget to pack your speakers. For that all important getting ready playlist. Anything from Disney tunes to the latest hits, whatever helps you to enjoy your morning and relax whilst you are all getting ready.
An essentials kit is a great idea to have with you. For those last little emergencies that may occur if anyone forgets to pack anything such as toothpaste or deodorant. You can have it packed with things like plasters, tissues, sewing kit, clear nail varnish, chewing gum/mints, scissors or anything else you may think you may need.
I hope these tips are useful and help you to enjoy getting ready on your wedding morning. Relax, laugh, and let yourself be pampered. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I would love to hear all about your plans and help you on your day. Don't forget to share this post with your friends and family if they are also planning weddings.
